I invite you to come and join me in the world of Rug-Making - a place where we will explore and exchange ideas on design, methods, techniques and instruction.
My goal is to help you learn how to make a variety of rugs using different techniques. These will include crocheting, knitting, hooking, prodding, punching, sewing , weaving and a combination of these techniques. Together we will explore the world of fiber and how to use it. I want you to gain confidence and skills that will get you excited about the art and craft of rug-making. My hope is to help you realize that rugs are not just a craft but can be a beautiful expression of usable art. We will look at color and design, researching how to incorporate both in your rugs so they become a subtle or substantial accent or the primary focus of a room.
You will also learn about the history and lands where rugs and carpets have been made in years past and are currently being made.
I also will tell you about online educational sites that can be of assistance in your rug-making endeavors. I will provide media reviews to include books, magazines, websites, dvd's and articles. You will learn of various rug-making guilds, groups, forums and schools that may be of interest to you.
